Compass Group becomes the new catering partner at Vikingskipet
Compass Group Norway has been awarded the contract to operate the food and beverage services at Vikingskipet in Hamar. With this agreement, the company is strengthening its presence in the Innlandet region and will further develop Vikingskipet as an attractive meeting place for the local community, sports groups, event guests, and the business community.

Vikingskipet is one of Norway’s best-known sports and event venues and has served as a key venue for local, national, and international events for decades. Compass Group Norway will now be responsible for developing and operating the food and beverage services at the facility.

We feel that they are coming in with great energy and a clear desire to further develop the offerings together with us, says Tor Rullestad of Hamar Municipality.
Skipet Café
A unique dining concept called “Skipet Café” has been developed for Vikingskipet. Here, a modern and accessible food offering has been developed that combines local ingredients, Nordic flavors, and flexible catering solutions tailored to different target groups and events. The goal is to create a natural gathering place in Hamar, where local pride meets modern food culture.
– Vikingskipet is an institution in Norwegian sports and event life. We see great potential in further developing the catering offering and creating great experiences for everyday guests, event attendees, and meeting guests alike. At the same time, it is important for us to collaborate with local suppliers and contribute to value creation in the region, says Kristine Melgaard, Vice President of Food at Compass Group Norway.
Compass Group is already planning new solutions for the kitchen and café areas and has begun discussions with local food producers and suppliers.
The parties look forward to a long-term partnership and to presenting their future plans for Vikingskipet in the coming period.
